The new session has begun!
We have 18 fresh faces here with us at the Granges Du Bosquet, and they are all so open and excited to start a new adventure. Classes began today as well as our first excursion. We visited Les Baux and the Cathedrale des Images to see a fascinating exposition on Cezanne. I have included an image of our calander, which I will also send to everyone, so you can all know what we will be up to on a daily basis.

Avignon

Last night we visited the fortified city of Avignon to see a piece of theatre, in the Avignon Theatre Festival, the largest Theatre festival in Europe, and visit the contemporary art collection, La Collection Lambert. You can visit the website here: Collection Lambert The piece we saw was called Asobu, which is Japanese for playing, and was directed by Josef Nadj, this summer's spotlight artist. The piece was in the center of the Palais Des Papes, La Coeur D'Honneur, and was incredible to watch. You can visit the Avignon site for the piece we saw here: Josef Nadj, Asobu

workshops

The students have been participating in multi form art making workshops. They have been working in the mediums of photography, sound, installation, thatre and fashion.
Here you can see the project they have been creating on the topic of utopia. Building upon an olive tree branch they have constructed a small village with the natural elements that surround us.
In the following photographs you can see them collecting field recordings, taken with both contact and electromagnetic microphones, in order to add sound to the village they are creating.
Our sound artist Pierlo also managed to apply contact microphones the sculpture itself, so that the city itself "sings" as the students work on it.

abbaye de senanque

We took an excursion to the Abbaye De Senanque, a sisterine abbay founded in 1148

portraits

Today in the fashion and theatre class we took some portraits of one another in order to warm us up for the camera and mark the begining of a transformation from our normal selves into various characters as we begin to create props and costumes for a mad hatter's tea party. Even little Nina, the daughter of two of our French teachers, Emilie and Valentin, participated!
